Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m Kevin Gorman, from the moody north of England… Now located in sunny Barcelona.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

A lot of my own original tracks and edits, to be released later in the year.  Also I’ve been doing some one-off radio shows for Rinse FM, linking music across the decades.

And can you talk us through the mix?

It’s a club mix, with a selection of my own edits, new jams and a few ancient gems. My taste is for grooves, strong hooks, raw and mature. I put it together with a portable digital set up, as I’m on the road a lot at the moment.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

The first track is by Arnaldo, someone I know from back in Manchester, although we’ve both left now. His music is always sophisticated and original. Next is London´s Jonny Rock and his cool Haus Music edit. This is on LIPS, the label I released ´Pressured´ on and responsible for the cool Love Fever parties. Marquis Hawkes I had to include, one of the most consistent UK producers right now. Also later in the mix is Atjazz, making a surprisingly big room track for the amazing Local Talk label.

Cool, tell us about some of your British musical Heroes and influences in general?

Stu Allan for his immense radio show in the late 80s, Dave Haslam for Freedom in the early 90s and his general dedication to music, Slam and Laurent Garnier throughout the 90s (Laurent lived in the UK back then). Also Gilles Peterson, the ultimate music selector.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

Quite a few gigs. Choice ones include Dimensions in Croatia, also I´m part of a 100 hour party in Romania. Later in the year, I’m releasing 2 or 3 singles on a few choice labels.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have performed and why?

I’ve played in a lot of exotic places, such as Saigon, Tokyo, Cape Town and Chicago. It’s difficult to pick one.  Closer to home, Ireland is always good, especially the smaller towns like Cork and Galway, just crazy uninhibited crowds up for a party. I also recently played a 2500+ capacity 90s rave near Bristol, with Bez MC’ing over my last 5 minutes, which was pretty special!
