Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

My name’s Marco and I currently produce and DJ under the moniker Arma. I was born in Brighton but grew up mostly in London, now I currently live in Kent.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

Recently I’ve been working on a few projects including visuals for some edits I’ve begun work on in my own time as well as some forthcoming music. I’m currently in this transition period of making the sounds of UK Funky blend with heavy percussive techno.

And can you talk us through the mix?

I wanted to give an insight into the music that excites me as a whole and show off some of the music from the key members of my different families I’m blessed to be a part of through social media. These include Classical Trax & Knowledge.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

I’ve gone for something different in this mix which is more to do with how British artists I’ve got to know are putting their own UK spin on more foreign club music sounds. Nervous Horizon and PRJKTs for me are two labels to watch. They are currently pushing two different sounds but both under the same spectrum; which is to push forward thinking, no holds barred music. Vern & Milla, JG Jour, Wallwork, Luru, Denham Audio & Nuvaman are just a few of a long list of names to watch this year.

Cool, tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

Some of my DJ heroes include the likes of Skream, Artwork & L-Vis 1990. As much as I have a broad taste in music, I came up through UK Garage & Dubstep; so all I used to listen to was Skream’s Freeizm and Skreamizm releases as well as Artwork’s tune Red and his many different aliases. L-Vis comes in as not only being relevant in the past but also a key player to the future of club music. I’ve always been excited to see what his latest mixes hold and hearing everything under the Night Slugs name.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

At the moment I’m currently sorting plans for PRJKTs and Monstart. I’m currently working on my debut full EP which will be composed of my more techno productions as well as some 2 step elements on the B-side. As for other projects, I currently have a couple of remixes I’m excited to get out there and an album of edits under my side alias DJ VHS.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have performed and why?

UK. It will always be the UK. I could never leave the intimacy of the smaller venues and a crowd response from a UK crowd in a dingy basement. Although, I’d like to venture around Europe & US to see what they’re saying.
