Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Hi I’m Jack Ritchie aka Bearcubs from the beautiful South of England, based in Hackney, London.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

I’ve been writing and working on new material that I’m really excited about, and a few collaborations that will hopefully be coming out soon. I’ve been producing and writing for some great new artists as well, so we’ll see when those projects will be released.

And can you talk us through the mix?

The mix is a selection of house and electronic music I’ve been listening to and playing out recently, I wanted to create a dreamy but upbeat mix that features the kind of sounds I like at the moment like vintage synths and organic beats.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

I’ve featured tracks from British artists Maribou State, Jamie xx, Lapalux and Four Tet in the mix. They all have their own unique sound but have managed to build big followings in the underground and commercial scenes, I have great respect for their music and what they do/how they go about presenting their musical ideas. There are lots of new artists rising so it’s hard to pick one, but I generally gravitate to those carving their own lane, experimenting in a refined way.

Cool, tell us about some of your British musical Heroes and influences in general?

DJ EZ – garage legend, also Joy Orbison, Floating Points, Giles Peterson.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

I’m playing a Live set at Bestival on the BBC introducing stage next month, then Djing and writing more material and collaborating with some great singers and musicians, just keeping focused and enjoying making music.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have performed and why?

I think playing live at Glastonbury was incredible, but I haven’t DJed too much. Probably on a boat just off the Croatian coast would be a great experience.
