BODYJACK

Selector AfterDark – Bodyjack by The Selector on Mixcloud

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m Chris Finke aka Bodyjack and I’m from Northamptonshire

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

Lots of new music on my Bodyjack project – I’ve just finished my net BodyTrax EP on the label I run with Clone (2 of the tracks are on this!), a remix for Music is Love and a very special EP for DEXT!

And can you talk us through the mix?

I recently did a FACT mix, which was pretty mental, and I wanted to do something different to that, using tracks I am playing right now and its got a different vibe to it. Lots of long mixes, more groove based in places, and some really heavy touches. It’s a bit of a journey mix which is always hard to get right, so I’m pleased with how it turned out.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

Aside from myself (!), Kowton opens it up and he is making some amazing music right now. Lo Shea from Hopeworks in Sheffield features in here too with some upcoming tracks off his next DEXT EP, my upcoming remix from Oli Furness and I put in a classic from Heller & Farley, which sounds as fresh today as it did 18 years ago when it came out. There’s so much great music right now coming out of the UK across the board and I genuinely think that we are in a real golden age of electronic music in this country. Such an exciting time.

Cool, tell us about some of your British musical Heroes and influences in general?

It’s always a tricky one to single out specifics, but thinking back on it when I was starting out Carl Cox, Top Buzz, Dave Angel and DJ Hype were great for different reasons, and guys like Surgeon, Woolford etc have been mainstays for a long long time.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have performed and why?

That’s a hard one to answer, as they are all so different. When the vibe is right over here it can be second to none, but places like Japan, Central Europe and Holland are killing it right now for different reasons. The contrasts and reactions are so interesting from place to place.
