Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m Charlie Tee, I’m a DJ and broadcaster from London.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

So I’ve recently been touring with Black Butter records and Ministry of Sound, which has been a blast. I’m about to launch an exciting project in a few months time, based on my love for underground dance music. I wish I could tell you more, but it’s pretty hush hush but definitely watch this space! 🙂

And can you talk us through the mix?

So I wanted to create a mix that reflects how I feel about music. I’m really passionate about pushing good music, regardless of genre or any other resonating factors. In my opinion, if a tracks good it’s good. I pretty much play anything, as long as I’m passionate about it and it has souI.
There are a few exclusives in there and mostly unreleased material, with the odd banger that I’m rinsing in my sets at the moment. So the mix starts pretty jazzy, but very quickly gets quite dark. It’s a healthy mixture of house, tech house, bass, techno & electronica.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

So there’s 2 we’ve got to talk about really, Will Clarke being the first. He’s just come off a double whammy US tour, where he’s been smashing it. You’ll definitely know him for his explosive releases on Dirtybird and Defected for sure and I really feel that this year is his year!
The second is a guy called Troy Gunner who’s from Bristol. He’s just started a new side production project with Woz called ‘W X T’, which is absolute fire. And the track of his I’ve featured in the mix is a complete exclusive and perfectly depicts his production style.

Cool, tell us about some of your British musical Heroes and influences in general?

Growing up I was heavily influenced by drum and bass and the culture that surrounded the scene. So naturally Andy C was one of my DJ heroes. In terms of energy, I love watching Eats Everything play. I must have seen him a million times and he never disappoints; an amazing selector!
In terms of DJs that I really take inspiration from, it’s probably got to be Skream & Jackmaster. I have quite an eclectic taste and these guys will play all across the spectrum. I massively rate them for that, as my sets are also pretty random. Would love to go back to back with both of them, just to see how it would go down.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

So we’re launching the new project in two months, which is aimed at underground music lovers. I’ve got my specialist mix show on KISS FM UK as well, which continues to broadcast every Thursday night. Hopefully I’ll be touring with Black Butter again in the New Year and festivals are starting to all get booked up which is exciting. So yeah, excited for all that really!
