7 Sides of Michael Bibi [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This week’s interview & mix comes from Michael Bibi

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Hi my name is Michael Bibi and I am from London.

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

Carl Cox & Mr G have to be two of the DJ’s that most influenced me on pure DJing skills.

What have you been working on recently?

Have been busy in the studio preparing a steady stream of releases myself as well as programming lots of new music for my own label SolidGrooves!

Tell us about the mix, how did you put it together, what did you want to represent?

As with most of the tracks I play out at the moment the mix is just a compilation of stuff I’m feeling from friends and myself right now. I almost always play tracks that have been shared with me directly and I’ve had a discussion on the vibe with whoever made it. I find it for one helps me get what the track is about and also it just feels a lot better when it goes off in the club and you know either yourself or one of your friends made this and will be buzzing.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

The first few British tracks are by myself, Charles Pierre, Kreature, Iglesias and Josh Butler. Again, they are all good friends and also amazing producers. I have to say Charles Pierre is the one to watch. Not many people will know his name right now but they will soon!

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

Ibiza residency at Benimussa Park and lots of touring with my own gigs.

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

Privilege Ibiza for the closing sunrise set. The walls are all made of glass so when the sun comes up in the morning the vibe in that place is incredible.
