EVENT REVIEW: LWE NYD with Carl Cox, Hot Since 82, Dubfire, Solardo, Jon Rundell and More!

LWE lay on a NYD party to remember…

LWE have become one of the most prestigious events companies in London – their recent collaboration with Printworks only further fortifying their position at the top of the market for electronic events. Here at Tobacco dock their huge lineup is supported by an incredible sound system and some dazzling light displays.

Arriving early we head towards the Great Gallery a vast space tinged with smoke and purple lights – Jon Rundell laying into the early pacesetters with a blend of tech house that sees the midday crowd begin to swell.

It is when Solardo arrive however that the party starts in earnest. Arguably the most impressive duo this side of the year the boys dish out a memorable set including a rousing remix of “I Got The Power.” Those around us were lapping up every moment and it is credit to the pair that they initiate such a key change in the day. When they finally unleash “Tribesmen” the roof is torn clean off! The chants of the crowd more akin to a football match than a rave.

The venues strengths lies in its ability to offer a different vibe in each room the car park is notable darker, deeper and this was reflected in the music. Anna, whose impressive techno set booms out of the speakers crashing against the walls. The blue lights hatched across the sky makes the music feel imprisoned – those around us close their eyes and enjoy the moment.

Carl Cox is the main event, he never disappoints and rules over the mammoth crowd in the venue and his set is victorious. A spin of Photon midway through a highlight; its booming baseline hops across the room, hands fly towards the sky and the lights blaze across the people below. Cox clearly enjoying himself booms his iconic “OH YES OH YES” through the PA.

If this is the start for LWE in 2017 then we can all be in for a bright and exciting year.
