7 Sides of FooR [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This weeks interview & mix comes from FooR

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

My name is Gavin Foord from Southampton and I am part of a garage collective called FooR.

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

My DJ heroes are EZ & Andy C! Andy C played the first ever rave I went to when I was 15 and I still get as excited about seeing EZ or Andy C DJ now as I did then.

What have you been working on recently?

We are working on a collaboration album at the moment. Its a collection of tracks with artists from all different genres that we are feeling at the moment and we also get to work with some of our heroes who we have been fans of for ages so its been one of our favourite projects to work on so far.

Tell us about the mix, how did you put it together, what did you want to represent?

We wanted to give you guys a mix that covers a broad spectrum of garage music that is out there at the moment along with a couple of unreleased exclusives and a couple of classics for good measure.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

Jorja Smith is incredible – we have been a fan of her music for a while now and have loved watching her journey. The On My Mind record with Preditah is one of my favourite tracks of the year. I also love the MJ Cole track in here, so good to be hearing new garage music from him! There is also some up and coming British producers on the mix I think are destined for big things – Soulecta, Moony and Blakk Habit to name a few.

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

Friends of FooR album and mini tour early 2018 and we are launching a new garage label in 2018 as well so keep a look out for that.

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

We have been lucky enough to play in some amazing places this year Amsterdam, Belgium, Ibiza, but so far nowhere has been as good as the UK.
