Event Review : Prydz at Hi Ibiza – August 2017

We returned to Hi Ibiza to see Eric Prydz take center-stage.

When Prydz announced his residency at Hi Ibiza the excitement that followed on social media was unbearable. In the dance community, the internet was broken – Prydz is, of course, renowned not only for the excellence and variety of his sounds but also for the spectacle of his shows.

On entering Hi we we’re greeted with Christoph and the first look at the visual exhibition that Hi has pulled together.

It is quite overwhelming.

Christoph, whose recent release on Pryda has been widely acclaimed is not overawed by the size of the crowd in front him. He lays into some progressive tracks that really entice the crowd into the arena.

Into the the club, Andrea Oliva is going back to back with Waff and within the Clubs darker room and swallowed by the crowd all around them in the booth the pair are putting on quite the event. Their melodic and bass ridden techno is great warm up for the main event.

Within the Theatre, Prydz enters into his stage – here the people below are baying for him and he pulls together a perfect set. His ability to seamlessly transition through the various nuances of dance is unlike any other DJ out there currently. Any listeners to his Epic radio show will know how much of a perfectionist the man is and therefore this is what makes this residency all the more special.

He ends on ‘Everyday’, an anthem for millennials and we are pushed back into the daylight and ultimately back into the ordinary.
