7 Sides of DJ EZ [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This weeks interview & mix come from UK Garage Legend DJ EZ

Selector Afterdark – DJ EZ by The Selector on Mixcloud

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

My name is DJ EZ and I am from London, UK. I started my career at an early age of 13 years old and I’m as passionate about Garage, Bass Music and house music with a Garage twist 25 years on.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

In 2014, I was fortunate to play in all corners of the globe reaching new and old fans of House and Garage music in new territories including USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. With the amount of flying I did last year I should have enough air miles for a free return trip to space! I have also just recovered from my own event Z Uncut which took place in London on 1st January where I played a marathon 8 hour set.  The night was electric and the vibe was amazing, I am looking forward to more Z Uncut events this year.  Watch this space……..

And can you talk us through the mix?

Like my club sets, I mixed up the new skool beats with the garage classics, pushing the future sounds with the favourites. Dropping Bass music beats amongst UKG, all mixed live in my studio without the help of computers; just as you’d expect from a DJ EZ set.

Nice, give us a taste of some of your favourite British artists at the moment?

The Brits are thoroughly represented in this mix and I’m supporting the likes of Cause N Affect, Flava D, Tuff Culture amongst others. The British invasion of Garage and Bass music are certainly taking over in 2015!

Cool, tell us about some of your British DJ Heroes and influences in general?

This is a tricky question to answer, as there’s so many different DJ / Producers I’ve had the pleasure of working with! I admire British DJ heroes such as Todd Edwards (even though he is American his music makes has played a massive part in the UK Garage scene), Tuff Jam, MJ Cole and Wookie are just some of headliners who have helped push the garage scene forward. However, in my eyes if you’re supporting new music and helping to grow the garage and bassline scene then you’re all heroes!

And what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

For 2015, it’s all about getting my sound to those that have yet to discover what I am about and of course, more touring. There are a number of bookings already confirmed for festivals in Europe and the UK, another tour in Australia and I’m looking forward to my return to the USA again in the first quarter of 2015… Keep up to date with what’s on the cards via DJEZ.com or my Twitter / Facebook @DJEZOFFICIAL
