Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Hi, we are Echaskech and we’re from London.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

We’ve been working on a series of EPs, the first of which is out now on general release. The second we want to release soon so we’re busy sharing tracks with each other and attempting to pull everything together for that.

And can you talk us through the mix?

We’ve looked to explore the quirkier side of electronic and dance music – things that work both for home listening and on the dance floor. We’ve tried to mix up genres a bit as we’re influenced by so much different music. We’re also suckers for anything with a quirky melody so you’ll hear a few of those! Towards the end we made sure a bit of drum and bass / jungle influenced sounds got an airing – the whole D&B thing was a huge influence on us.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

Green Door Studios in Glasgow is an amazing project producing some great music. Stuart Evans, one of the founders and a producer at the studio, also records as Sordid Sound System who we have featured in the mix. That track is available on the Invisible Inc. label who have a mini-album from the same artist lined up soon. Green Door Studios are also responsible for Golden Teacher who produce a brilliant kind of party, electronic punk dancehall – well worth a listen! On the 15 minute mix we’ve included new tracks from Radioactive Man (another stalwart of the UK scene who has stuck to his guns), Ital Tek, a track from the new Sordid Sound System album, a Sasha curveball and an, as yet, unreleased track from ourselves.

Cool, tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

We’re big fans of Andrew Weatherall. He’s refused to sell out, still produces great music and is a very versatile DJ too – you never quite know what you’re going to get other than guaranteed excellent tunes.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

Lots more synth fiddling and finishing off our next EP.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have performed and why?

We played a festival in the Pyrenees, which was certainly one of the best in terms of surroundings. We arrived packing nothing but minimal techno and the crowd were all gabba / hardcore fans which made for an interesting set with everything shoved to +8! Mostly our gigs have been UK based and we’ve loved playing smaller festivals such as Festinho. An all0time favourite club we’ve played many times is The Rhythm Factory in London – now sadly closed but once home to many excellent parties.
