7 Sides of Mella Dee [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This week’s interview & mix comes from Mella Dee.

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Ryan Aitchison a.k.a Mella Dee, from Doncaster in South Yorkshire but been living in London for nearly 5 years now.

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

Too many to mention really, my taste stretches far and wide and I’ve got a respect for a lot of people and what they’ve brought to the UK.

What have you been working on recently?

Mainly music for my label, Warehouse Music that I started earlier this year.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix?

A collection of stuff from artists I’m a big fan of, driving and soulful techno stuff with some electro/broken sounds in there as well.

Which British artists are you most excited about?

Isaac Reuben has some really nice stuff in the works so he’s up there, Big Miz is doing his thing and coming through with some top sounds so he’s one to watch for sure.

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

Just keep releasing what I want to release basically, see what happens and roll with it, you can’t ever know what’s coming next or how something might pop off in music.

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

To be honest I just love playing music so I find it hard to say my favourite place as its easy to forget all the gigs over time. I love Glastonbury though so that’s a contender for sure, playing in London Underground at Block 9 a few years ago was amazing.
