7 Sides of Roska [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This weeks interview & mix comes from Roska.

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m Roska and I’m from London

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

Zinc, Goldie, Wookie, Zed Bias

What have you been working on recently?

I’ve been finishing off part 2 to my ‘Askin’ 4 It’ series. I’ve also been working on releases coming out on my label, Murder He Wrote and Majora’s releases to be specific.

Tell us about the mix, how did you put it together, what did you want to represent?

I represent a sound called UK Funky which consists of percussive and tribal influences as well as House and Grime too. The mix wasn’t difficult to put together as a lot of these are relatively new give or take a few months and club ready dubs. All from producers and labels I rate highly.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

The British mix is jam packed with lots of artists I’m either working with on my label or again ones I’ve been supporting in the clubs and when I host radio.

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

Continue to push my label, Roska Kicks & Snares and also tour the world.

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

I’d say some cities in Asia mainly Tokyo as well as London. Tokyo is just mind blowing as a city and also in the clubs.
