7 Sides of Woz [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This weeks interview & mix comes from Woz.

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Easy, I’m Woz and I hail from Bristol.

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

All time favourite – Ben UFO
Recent Favourite – Tasker
Favourite homie – Klose One

What have you been working on recently?

Writing, writing and writing. A couple years ago I started gravitating towards a more tactile approach to making music. I started buying drum machines, synths, pedals etc. Although I was having al ot of fun writing this way, the outcome needed refinement. I spent the best part of 2016 honing my new workflow and sound.

Tell us about the mix, how did you put it together, what did you want to represent?

I usually approach a mix by spending a day organising the track list and order. I then sit with it for a few days (so I don’t miss anything out) before finally recording live. I enjoyed putting the compulsory UK first 15mins together so much that i decided to make the whole mix consist of UK music.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

My hometown is still my main source of inspiration so there’s plenty of Bristol music in this mix from the likes of Bruce, Batu, Shanti Celeste and Troy Gunner.

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

I have my first vinyl record coming on Lobster Boy very soon, which I’m really excited about!

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

I wouldn’t say I have a favourite, I just love Dj’ing. Every place and night is different and that’s what I enjoy most about it.
