With the release of iOS 26, Apple has updated the Apple Music app with new features and a fresh design. One of the most talked-about updates is the new Apple Music DJ Mode.
What is Apple Music DJ Mode?
Apple Music DJ Mode is a major upgrade to the crossfade features (both Spotify & Apple Music currently have this). It now includes AutoMix, which uses AI to blend tracks more like a real DJ.
Instead of simply fading between songs, the new Apple Music DJ Mode matches the beats and tempo. It mixes tracks at the right time, using techniques like time-stretching and beat-matching.
This creates a smoother, more natural flow when listening to a playlist. It’s designed to sound more like a live DJ set than a basic playlist.
How to use the new DJ feature on Apple Music
To try DJ Mode, your device must be updated to iOS 26.
You also need to be an Apple Music subscriber or on a free music trial.
Once updated, go to the Apple Music app settings and turn on ‘Auotmix’.

Other new Apple Music Features Announced with iOS 26
Along with DJ Mode, Apple Music now includes:
- Translated lyrics in different languages.
- The option to pin your favourite albums or playlists to the top of your library.
- A new widget that lets you place the pinned music on your phone’s home screen.
- More platforms supported for Apple Music DJ’s (more info below)
More updates are expected to roll out with the full iOS 26 release soon.
Apple Music for DJs
DJs can now also access Apple Music on more DJ hardware. The latest update adds support for:
All-in-one systems from Denon DJ, Numark and RANE DJ
This adds to the existing support for rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro.
These updates go to show Apple Music is really trying to cater for fans of different styles and trying to keep a slice of the DJ market as well as the consumer market.
The AutoMix feature helps them to further compete with platforms like Spotify (who already have crossfade and AI DJ features) and other music streaming services that are music sources for DJ’s.
