There is no doubt that Patrick Topping has always had an ear for the club ‘banger’ his releases have always had the necessary impact on the dance floors across the globe. After their set at Detroit’s Movement Festival in 2018, we finally have the opportunity to hear Topping’s collaboration with Detroit legend Kevin Saunderson.
The result is not disappointing. Here is 3 minutes of bruising, belting techno; a barrage on the senses so severe and a carnivorous baseline so brutal that once you hear it out you’ll be yearning for it again.
Saunderson called Topping ‘the past, present and the future’ perhaps it’s Saunderson’s influence here that allows Topping to flourish so mightily. The elements of a nostalgic past never far away from a record that is so entrenched in the dance music of the new decade. An exciting and frankly brilliant collaboration.
