7 Sides of Timmy P [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This week’s interview & mix comes from Timmy P

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Hi there, my name is Timmy P and I’m a DJ/Producer based in Oxford, UK.

Tell us about some of your British DJ heroes?

Hmmm, this is a tricky one so I’m just going to name a bunch!!!! Sasha, John Digweed, Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Mr G. and Jamie Jones (to name a few).

I owe a lot to the above for keeping my ears massively entertained over the last twenty years and they have all been such a huge influence on me!

What have you been working on recently?

I’ve just finished off a VA track for Josh Butler’s Origins which is out in the next couple of weeks, called Harv. I’ve also been working on hard on a super special EP which I can’t really announce yet annoyingly. I don’t think the label would be too happy?! Other than that, I’m working on some new bits with vocalist Shyam P and lots of original material.

Tell us about the mix, how did you put it together, what did you want to represent?

So the mix I’ve supplied is a pretty decent representation of what I’d play if I was playing out. It includes a couple of new ones from me, Geddem In (Label TBA) and Harv (which is out soon!). I love an opening set so you’ll notice a lot of deeper stuff included in there.

Talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

For me at the moment, Pirate Copy, Josh Butler and Jamie Trench are some of my favourite British artists. They all have such unique sounds and therefore I wanted to throw them in the mix! I’ve also been playing their music for years on a consistent basis!

What is on the cards in the immediate future?

Lots of new original productions, with VA tracks on Origins and Lovecrimes and some EP’s that I’ll be announced once they are all locked in. One release happens to be on one of my favourite labels so I’m super happy about how it’s all progressing. Annoyingly I can’t say any more than that just yet!

Where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

Glastonbury! I was lucky enough to play there a couple of years back at Genosys and Lovebullets – Too much fun!!!
