7 Sides of Hear Other Sounds [Interview & Mix] | Selector After Dark

This weeks Interview & Mix Comes from Hear Other Sounds

Selector Afterdark – Hear Other Sounds by The Selector on Mixcloud

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

We are Hear Other Sounds, an independent record label from South London.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

We’ve been cultivating new releases for 2015 and have just released out 9th EP from an artist called Atlas. His “Version One” EP is out now and really sums up the range of hybrid sounds that are coming out of the UK Grime and ‘130’ scenes.

And can you talk us through the mix?

The mix was inspired by the Autumn/Winter season. Think moody & ice cold related tracks. The mix features tracks from artists we appreciate as well as tracks from our label.

Nice, give us a taste of some of your favourite British artists at the moment?

Almost every track featured was by a British artist or somehow connected to the British scene. We’re really excited about the team of producers we’re releasing with. Shout outs to, Ben Hauke, J-One, DJD, LKD, Abe aka Clones aka Thief, Charlux, Chaksa, Ardstepz & Atlas.

Cool, tell us about some of your British DJ Heroes and influences in general?

DJ EZ is a big influence to us. The undisputed king of Garage. His style of mixing and selection is still second to none and never disappoints. Asides from him we really rate; Ben UFO, Joy O, Boddika, Logan Sama (to name a few).

And what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

We have an exciting 2015 planned, with releases from Fresh Paul from Glasgow and South London’s Nomis.

And finally, where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

Glastonbury, Summer 2014. Although this was not the biggest crowd we ever played in front of, the atmosphere was intense. We played a two-hour set to 200 people who just came to have fun. Their ears and tastes were open and we were lucky enough to play everything from French Fries to Zed Bias to Luther. Two aspects we really appreciate are; a receptive crowd and a decent sound system.
