You’ve just taken an inter-planetary step into a different realm, and things don’t quite seem to make sense: you’re submersed in an ecumenical pool of ethereal reverberation, acid plucks and alien chatters. Then you wake up and realise you are still very much in the reaches of normality, but you fell asleep listening to Ike Release’s new track ‘Cosmic Supreme’. Daring, unconventional and at times awkward, the harrowing rises and underlying grumbles that overshadow this track are somewhat masterful. As the opening track on the Chicago based producer’s debut EP, Cosmic Supreme is an excellent start to Ike’s soloist regime.
