Perhaps best known for her recent collaborations on Bonobo album ‘The North Borders’, Szjerdene is progressively making her way into our musical consciousness, bringing with her a freshness and vitality that I think we have all been craving. With a style somewhat reminiscent of a patchwork musical quilt, an unsurprising metaphor given her felicitously named EP ‘Patchwork’, Szjerdene’s musical range and ability is both impressive and powerful. Having recently aligned herself with Ninja Tune, I am expecting big things from the London based newcomer. Her latest release ‘Linger Well’ is an understated, poised and soulful track and one that has so far avoided being overplayed.
