| Sunday July 28 at Loft Studios, NW10: Having popped their west London cherry last year, secretsundaze decided to go back west-side to Loft Studios to take over the courtyard and ground-floor building adjoining the courtyard, with Detroit’s unique talent Marcellus Pittman, plus one of London and the world’s finest talents, Wbeeza – live. Marcellus Pittman – or ‘Malik’ as he is also known – is one of those very special artists alongside the likes of Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite whose productions veer from techno to house to disco and always have that raw, dusty vibe. His solo productions are outstanding and you can hear the influence of jazz and funk as much as house and techno. Of course, alongside Moodymann, Parrish and Wilhite, Pittman forms 3 Chairs, who headline Dimensions Festival this year. Wbeeza has released a string of hits on the excellent Third Ear imprint including ‘He’s So Crazy’ and ‘A116’. His dynamic live sets involve the creation of loops on the fly, and some of his biggest hits never fail to bring the house down. | |
