This weeks interview & mix comes from UK producer Brolin

Selector Afterdark – Brolin by Selector After Dark on Mixcloud

Hello Brolin, can you start off by introducing yourself?

I am Brolin, a producer and songwriter from Gaffney.

What have you been up to recently?

I have been putting the finishing touches to my debut album, which will hopefully be released in the latter part of 2014.

Nice, talk us through the mix that you provided us with….

The 25 minute mix that I made for The Selector, features UK artists, who I feel are pushing creative boundaries, releasing music that excites but sometimes fails to gain the exposure it deserves. We’re saturated with songwriting and production talent in this country but due to the overwhelming amount of music-released daily, gold can trickle by unnoticed.

The 2nd mix, for Selector After Dark, is more uptempo, with a fair bit of afro-beat influence. There is an undercurrent of engaging, vibrant music being released world wide and I wanted to share some of the tunes I have been fortunate to discover in the past few months.

Excellent and talk us through some of the British talent in the mix?

I would say all artists featured excite me equally… there is a plethora of talent, both British and non-British throughout both mixtapes. Every track has a definite identity, which I feel is an exciting prospect for any music lover.

Definitely, so what’s on the cards over the few months that people can keep an eye out for?

Live performances, more writing and an album release.

Nice, you mentioned some live performances, this being a global show, is there anywhere in the world in particular that you would consider the best place to play a show?

Skegness. The crowds there are wild….

Fair enough! And finally where can people hear more?
