Selector Afterdark – KDA by The Selector on Mixcloud

Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

South London via North Wales.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

Done a track with Tricky, another with Mel Blatt, remixing some amazing bands….

Sounds great! Can you talk us through the mix?

A lack of pretension, some ideas that flip the script of some of the artists, and some slick beats.

And can you give us a taste of some of the British artists you’ve featured in your mix?

Waterson is cool and timeless, he needs to be heard. Ashworth’s Nina Simone remix is typical of what happens when a Brit takes on a foreign classic. I messed around with Underworld and Emeli Sande as a sort of Olympics reference, I just heard them going together much slower. I am also particularly into Vaults and Chvrches right now too.

Nice, can you tell us about some of your British DJ Heroes and influences in general?

From Groove Armada, EZ to Maya Jane Coles, all are my heroes. Matt Jam Lamont, Giles Peterson – list is huge.

And what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

I’m currently working with Will on a Throwing Snow Remix and we have just completed a Huxley remix for his next single, our way of working in the studio is really exciting I’m sure you will see plenty of collaborations.

Very exciting indeed! And finally, where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

Rinse FM, because it’s the only place I play…officially…
