Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

Hi I’m Keiren, otherwise known as Komon. I live in Bristol.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

Of recent I have been working with Wil Saul and Appleblim, Will asked us to write some exclusive music for his DJ Kicks mix and as a result I wrote several tracks which featured on the mix. Following this we have been working on remixes for the likes of, Kelis, Gorgon City and Woz to name a few. Mine and Appleblim’s Motion Blur EP was released on August 4th on Aus Music. I’m pretty much stock pilling right now working with as many people as possible.

Sounds great! Can you talk us through the mix?

I tried to keep the mix as closely linked as possible. Using artists that feature on the labels I have or with who I write music with, I feel I haven’t found my sound as such as I really like making everything from ambient to bangers, there is one or two I couldn’t resist playing tho.

And can you give us a taste of some of the British artists you’ve featured in your mix?

The opening track is now named Gametic Universe this originally was a generative patch within Ableton, Appleblim and I took lots of the audio and this is what came of it. We will be giving it away for free very soon. The Good Ones Go underpins the start and gently chugs under the random splurts of Gametic Universe, It’s a bit of an older track but I really like its simplicity and love mixing this version. Drone is a w.i.p title, this is a track we have been working on in the past 6 months. Originally just an ambient drone that developed into a steppy roller. Two For One taken from Will’s “DJ Kicks Mix” its basically two tunes in one. K257 by Dubspeeka is in there, he has an amazing work rate and fires out tune after tune. He has a great sound as you can hear on this unreleased dark number. Creature Funk – This one is our homage to D&B, big build and drop at the break down, get those hands in the air! Shaman Champagne is one of my faves at the mo, Second Storey just mention that his album will be dropping soon. I had to get this in there, great remix also. Church what needs to be said? I love this track, the vocals are so beautiful and the backing track is almost to tough for them. Great combination. Astir –  This track is taken from my most recent release on Aus Music the Motion Blur EP I wrote this whilst not being able to sleep around March of this year. I wanted to use a mixture of real and synthetic sounds. The end result was this. Inside The Deku Tree It was a toss up to start or end with this, I love the strings, Leon has a way with music I’d say I like everything he’s done. His sampling and ear for sound selection is amazing.

Nice, can you tell us about some of your British DJ Heroes and influences in general?

This is a tough one as I have moved through several genres over the years. There are lots that I admire but the one that sticks in my head is a local DJ called Easy Groove. He played for raves such as Fantazia, Universe, Fusion etc. I liked his way of putting sets together as he would play many styles that worked together seamlessly.

And what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

I’m currently working with Will on a Throwing Snow Remix and we have just completed a Huxley remix for his next single, our way of working in the studio is really exciting I’m sure you will see plenty of collaborations.

Very exciting indeed! And finally, where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

This is a tough one, I like playing small venues but i think Sziget festival in Budapest is one of my faves. I’m not sure what I was expecting but the crowd was amazing and the sound system was so loud it hurt your ears!
