Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m from London and I’ve been a musician since as long as I can remember. I went to the Brit School and did a music degree at Westminster and after Uni I decided to start my own thing and Scarper was born.

What have you been working on recently?

So I just had a release out on the label I co-run with my friend Pause. We started the label two years ago. So far it’s been our own releases, my last one was Hypnophoniac and yeah we just want to build the label and sign new artists. And so far so good.

Excellent and talk us through the mix?

I didn’t want to put too much thought in to it, I wanted it to be quite spontaneous. So I literally chucked a few tunes in that I’m listening to at the moment and mixed that with kind of older stuff I really like and a couple of my own tunes. Yeah it was all done in one take recently. It’s all UK music too, which is nice.

Lovely and talk us through some of the British music featured?

So yeah there’s a track on there by Lakker. I heard a mix of there’s that they did and it was really good. Mixing old Aphex stuff and bassy stuff with newer stuff. Which is what I like out of a mix and an artist really. There’s a new track in there from Actress too which I really like and I couldn’t help but put a fellow Plexus artist in there called Pause, which also features a brilliant vocalist called Stac. And Reso is there; I put one of his new tracks in there from his new EP, which is really good.

Some great artists on there, were there any British DJ’s or producers that influenced you in the beginning?

It has to be Aphex Twin, his first proper album; I really love the beauty and simplicity of it. I love melodic and musical things. That really hit home for me, so definitely a strong influence there.

Amazing, so what is on the cards in the immediate future?

So the big thing coming up is both Pause and I are playing the Soundwave Festival in Croatia, which I can’t wait for, very lucky to be playing there. We are also in the process of setting up a monthly night called Blip. We just want to get something going regularly really.

And finally where is the best place in the world you have DJ’d and why?

So far it’s mainly shows around London, I love playing in London, but this year we’re going to branch out, looking forward to maybe doing some shows in Leeds with some friends. Leeds has a great scene!
