Introduce yourself and tell us about the part of the UK you’re from?

I’m Walter Ego and I’m a DJ/ Producer originally from Sheffield but I’m now based in South East London.

Can you tell us a bit about what you’ve been working on recently?

Grime… Lots of grime.

And can you talk us through the mix?

Not really, its about 30 tracks long… but in Summary it’s mainly instrumental grime with other stuff thrown in to season the mixture.

Nice, talk us through the British music featured in this mix? Which British artists are you most excited about?

I’ve put in almost all-British music throughout. I included Novelist and Mumdance who’ve been doing amazing stuff recently fusing old school grime sensibilities with Techno-like minimalism. Grime/Garage producers Asa and Sorrow feature quite heavily. If you haven’t heard their stuff they’re very much worth checking out.

Cool, tell us about some of your British musical Heroes and influences in general?

The grime godfather, Wiley, is a huge influence and always has been; his vision to create something new and uniquely British has to be given respect. Before I got into more straightforward club music I started listening to stuff like Aphex twin and Square Pusher, who I guess were the first electronic artists that I got in to. I actually thought the recent Aphex Twin album was really great too. It was really nice to hear him going back to the sound that made him famous. Finally Skream between especially 2005 and 2009 was unstoppable and pretty much reinvented dance music. Listening to Midnight Request line is pretty much turned me on to production so he has to go on the list.

Great and what’s on the cards in the immediate future?

I’m working with some names that will be very familiar to those who know my grime material. I’ll leave it at that for now.
