BBC Radio1 are set to launch a new video channel on the iPlayer. The official launch date will be announced soon and the on demand channel will include exclusive music performances and artist interviews. It is also speculated that live BBC music events like the R1’s Big Weekend and BBC Radio 1Xtra Live could be shown live on the channel.
Ben Cooper of Radio1 and 1Xtra said: “Radio 1 has always pioneered innovative ideas and led the way in engaging with young people and this is another huge step in cementing that reputation.”.
We are expecting to see some quality dance music content on the channel as BBC have already made it clear that dance music is a big focus for the station with the launch of their dedicated R1 Dance social media accounts.
