Defected Records Leave Pacha Ibiza

The Ibiza transfer season is in full flow as the big boys of the Ibiza world start to move and rumours are flying about who is going where for 2013. Today Defected Records have announced that after 7 years they will be leaving the world famous Pacha Nightclub.

This comes as a huge surprise to many after their most successful year on the island to date, here is what founder and A&R director Simon Dunmore had to say:

“Pacha is an incredible discotheque and we have enjoyed seven amazing seasons at the club. The current House music renaissance meant 2012 was our most successful summer to date, with acts such as Solomun and Dennis Ferrer striking the right chord on the island.

This reflects the popularity we are currently enjoying both in terms of sales and attendances at our events. However, Ibiza’s clubbing landscape is rapidly evolving and these are exciting times!

Continuing a tried and trusted formula would have been the easiest option but next summer will be our 10th on the Island and our achievements last summer gives us a great platform to look at the new opportunities. So, to conclude, we will not be at Pacha next summer and will announce our plans for 2013 early in the New Year.”

There are also rumours flying that Pete Tong and David Guetta (among others) are thinking of taking their nights elsewhere for this summers season. We will bring you more news as we get it!
