Ministry of Sound will install a state of the art Dolby Atmos System in their main room. It will be the first club soundsystem made by the company who are most famous for their sound for cinema screens. The system will feature 60 speakers carrying audio from 22 channels and will be built on top of the room’s existing huge Martin Audio sound rig.

The New System will be built on top of the current stacks.

The new technology is described as a step beyond “channel-based” audio, where sounds are panned between speakers; and means that individual sounds can come from anywhere in the room and move around freely around the club.

A new custom made lighting system will also be installed to make the 360 experience even better.

Here’s what Ministry of Sound’s CEO, Lohan Presencer had to say about the new system:

“Dolby Atmos allows our patrons to experience the future of dance music, creating multidimensional soundscapes the likes of which have never been heard before in a nightclub environment. It’s simply breathtaking.”

Maybe this could signal a shift away from people dancing in one spot, staring towards the DJ and make exploring the club and really experiencing the music more common. Exciting times ahead!
