Event Review: Circus Takeover w/ Yousef at Egg London (15/11/14)

The legendary Circus parties have been drawing in crowds for over a decade, and this weekend saw their latest takeover with Yousef, Matt Tolfrey and Acid Mondays coming together alongside a strong line up to celebrate a huge showcase at Egg London, with Hartwerk hosting ground floor.

With bare brick walls, a hazy glow, and a stripped back atmosphere the venue alone ticks the boxes. The first thing you notice upon entering the club…is the bass. If there’s an aspect that stands out before any other, it’s the system. Liam Willers of The Willers Brothers has been a resident at Egg for 18 months now, and said

“The key success of Egg Is down to the sound system. Unlike a lot of other clubs who just have a Funktion 1 kit, we have a tailored set up via Flip Side Soundsystems, and this allows artists such as the circus crew to really push the boundaries”

Oh how they did. All floors had a good flow during the night, with top floor not being tamed in energy for a second. Roof stacked light panels, the heaviest sound and a crowd that know how to get down made for a hedonistic vibe at points, and Acid Mondays dropping Induceve – ‘Monolevel’ was a personal highlight, sending everyone into a childlike state of excitement. Negghead (aka Dan Ward) of Acid Monday’s below said

“Egg stands out because of the crowd, they just really appreciate the music!”

Bottom floor, hosted by the Hartwerk Showcase saw some real peak points during the night, and CJ Hartmenn kept the good vibes going throughout. If you weren’t there to be a part of it, check out their up and coming events by clicking here.
