HOT PICKS | Sonny Wharton Selects..

We asked Sonny Wharton to pick out some tunes for us…

THE FIRST DANCE MUSIC TRACK YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH..

1992_-_Everybody_in_The_Place_EP
There were a few that grabbed me instantly when I first discovered Dance Music but when the one that always stands out the most in my memory is The Prodigy – ‘Everybody In The Place’… I’d never heard anything like it and still to this day it puts a big smile on my face!

YOUR ULTIMATE WARM-UP TRACK..

Getting to play warm ups is something I really miss and don’t really get the chance to do so often nowadays which is a shame as this is by far one of the most satisfying sets to do for a DJ and personally one I really enjoy. I’ve genuinely got lots of favourites for this part of the night but Kruse & Nuernberg ft. Bolin – ‘Lost N Free’ is one that I always love to play.

THAT ONE SONG THAT NEVER LEAVES YOUR SET LIST..

X-Press 2 – Musik Xpress
is something I’ve been playing for what feels like pretty much forever… when it kicks in that bassline never ever fails to deliver!

THE BIGGEST TRACK IN YOUR SETS RIGHT NOW..

sonny1
Sonny Wharton – ‘Vice’ I know it sounds very self indulgent to say your own track and probably not even allowed so for that I apologise but this really has been getting the biggest reactions for the last couple of months and its even a surprise to me as I’m always a bit nervous when playing something of my own at my shows for the first time. I can’t wait to release this later in the year.

ONE SONG YOU LOVE OUTSIDE THE GENRES YOU ARE KNOWN FOR PLAYING..

30749
There’s loads of music I love outside of what I play in my club sets so its really hard to just pick one but I’m gonna go with Mint Royale ft William Dafoe – ‘Ring’ in this instance as I was listening to it earlier today and marveling at how great it is. A real classic with a beautiful message.

AN UNDER-RATED SONG YOU LOVE..

CS3232877-02A-BIG
Luke Stanger – ‘By Myself’ came out towards the end of 2016 and I genuinely thought it was gonna be a big track for him but maybe because of the time of year it didn’t quite seem to get the momentum it should have and seemed to slip under the radar a little. I still absolutely love this track and really think Luke’s got a strong career ahead.

A SONG FROM AN ARTIST YOU THINK WILL BLOW UP THIS YEAR..

artworks-000174289313-s1wpxk-t500x500
OC & Verde – Masaai This was a HUGE tune for them last year and I guess off the back of that they have technically already have blown up but I know it’s only the start for these guys and having known them for a few years now I’m really excited to see them finally getting this kind of recognition… Both in the studio and in the DJ booth these guys deliver time and time again!

YOUR NEXT SINGLE OR THE SONG YOU ARE PROMOTING RIGHT NOW…

61H68Z2RjhL._SS500
Sonny Wharton – Badboy This is the first single from me on my own label Whartone Records for well over a year now and I’m quite excited to be releasing it as it’s been a bit of a secret weapon for me in my sets for ages. It’s just a straight up club track really but it’s the start of a series of releases from me that will all follow in succession very shortly.
