Moby Defends Artists Who Bootleg His Tracks

Moby is well known as a forward thinker when it comes to music consumption and promotion. His music, and opinions on the industry continue to have a huge impact on dance music worldwide.

After finding a bootleg of one of his tracks online, rather than complaining and asking for it to be taken down Moby did the complete opposite. He shared it on both his Twitter & Facebook page praising the mix. He also went on to commit to helping producers keep their bootlegs online by saying:

“if for some reason you do a bootleg/unlicensed version of one my songs i will do my best to make sure it’s NOT taken down. i love bootlegs.”

This humble attitude was clearly very well received by his fans as the Facebook post quickly got well over 3000 likes. He also invited other producers to share links to the bootlegs they had created and later posted another to his Facebook.

The bootleg track which initially caught his attention was this brilliant mix from a Belgium based producer that we have supported for a while on Soundplate, Lost Frequencies. Listen to it below..

Would you be happy for producers to upload unofficial remixes / bootlegs of your tracks online?
