Robin Schulz – ‘Sugar’ Is Spotify’s ‘Most Viral’ Track of 2015!

The 2015 Spotify charts have been released and amongst the Drakes and Ed Sheerans a couple of rising stars from the electronic music scene shine through..

Robin Schulz

Spotify‘s 2015 charts are on the whole pretty predictable. Ed Sheeran is the most streamed artist in history, ‘Lean On’ is the most streamed track of all time (we knew that already) and Drake was the most streamed artist of the year. There however some more surprising results in the mix..

German dance music star, Robin Shulz’s ‘Sugar’ (ft. Francesco Yates) has become the most viral track of the year. The most viral track is based on the number of people who shared it divided by the number who listened to it and is a great indication on how much people really love a track. All in all ‘Sugar’ has racked up more than 150million streams on Spotify.

Here’s what Robin had to say on beating Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ to the top spot..

“Things that go viral are normally cat videos, small children doing stupid stuff or both – so it’s amazing when this happens to one of your songs!! Thanks to everyone who shared “Sugar” on Spotify this year!”

This great news, and we couldn’t be happier for our good friends at Tonspiel / WePlay for making it happen!

Schulz was not the only electronic music producer to hit the top spot this year. Noriegean sensation, Kygo was named Spotify’s breakout artist of the year after reaching more than 1 billion plays on the platform!
