One of the panels that had the most buzz around it at last weeks IMS Conference was ‘Meet Team Avicii’. Although Avicii wasn’t there in person and was represented by his management team there was no shortage of top DJ’s in attendance. Sitting quietly in the audience amongst the industry professionals and media was a gaggle of top DJ’s including Seth Troxler, Danny Tenaglia and Eats Everything.
The panel itself had not been one of the most lively of discussions of the week as Avicii’s management team carefully skirted around questions regarding the Forbes estimated worth of Avicii, tours and haters but it was the questions from the floor that everyone was waiting for…
As soon as the time for questions came around Seth Troxler, stood up and let out a little whoop for attention. After one standard question from an up and coming producer it was Seth’s chance to let loose! He asked if Avicii was a part of a “pay-to play” system and went on to call Aviccii’s manager, Ash Pournouri out on his 50/50 writing and production credits, asking if it is ‘more of a modern day Milli Vanilli situation’! Finally, before sitting down for the teams response Seth added, “What does your music stand for in the whole giant scope of electronic music, and music generally?”.
