Beatport will provide exclusive content such as playlists and video content from the SFX Entertainment Festivals to Spotify. This is the first partnership Spotify has done with another streaming platform. It gives them valuable knowledge and content from the dance music scene and in return Beatport will get exposure to a much larger audience.

Beatport currently has 5 million registered users and Spotify has 20 million paid subscribers and more than 75 million active users. It will be interesting to see how the new partnership changes these numbers and what impact Beatport will have on the dance music side of Spotify.

“We are thrilled to be operating a Beatport presence within Spotify and providing our unique content around all things EMC (electronic music culture) to the Spotify audience,”

– Greg Consiglio, President and CEO of Beatport.

In the press release announcing the partnership Spotify also boasted, “Two billion times every month, our listeners discover an artist they’ve never heard of through a Spotify playlist.”. Hypebot did the maths and that works out as roughly 26 new discoveries per user via Playlists on Spotify.
