The competition in the music streaming sector is about to hot up again.

Screen shot 2014-01-16 at 12.42.08Beats Music will officially launch in just a few days time. The new service fronted by Dr Dre will cost $10 a month, it will kick off with a catalog of about 20 million songs from the major record labels. You will be able to use Beats Music to download song to listen to offline and their will be discounted family packages available. It’s thought their big selling point will be their user experience and expert-curated playlists, something rivals Spotify have also been pushing hard on for the last few months.

They have just announced that their free music streaming service will now extends to all iOS and Android devices and the time limits on the free accounts have all been removed so free users can listen to as much music as they like. The free service does however still have in stream audio advertising – to remove this, users must pay $10 a month.

We will be looking out for the other streaming music providers, Youtube Music (launching soon), Pandora, Deezer, Bloom etc to make announcements, cut prices and announce updates to keep up.

Which streaming service do you think will come out on top in 2014?
