Tunecore Has Been Hacked

Popular music distribution company Tunecore has been hacked, sensitive data is at risk.

Tunecore a distribution company, which helps thousands of independent artists get their music on to iTunes, Spotify and other music services has become the latest music tech company to be hacked. This follows reports of several other music websites being hacked including Spotify.
 
According to industry news website, HypeBot the Tunecore CEO, Scott Ackerman sent an email to all users around midnight on Friday night that their accounts had been hacked:
 

“We recently discovered suspicious activity on TuneCore’s servers in November,” he wrote, “and that on November 17th an individual illegally collected information from our servers.”

 
The data that may have been compromised includes all customers names, addresses, passwords and more. In response Tunecore have invalidated all of its user passwords.
 
If you are a Tunecore user you are advised to log in to your account as soon as possible to set a new password and also to change the password on any other sites you use with the same Email / password combination..
